9 Movie Pairs With Identical Plots

For this list, I have chosen movie pairs that either came out near the same time and had very similar plots, or movies that are just very similar regardless of their release date. Some of these pairs are so suspiciously similar, they seem like complete copycat ripoffs. This doesn't mean I don't like the movies. In fact, many of them are some of my favorites!

#1 Antz and A Bug's Life

Movies that came out around the same time about an insecure, obscure ant who has to save his colony after much difficulty.

#2 Deep Impact and Armageddon

Movies that came out around the same time where a team has to go into space to try to drill into the middle of an asteroid, and put a nuke in it in order to save the planet from destruction. (Can you get more similar?!)

#3 Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman

Movies that came out around the same time that had a Snow White reboot element to them, greatly from the perspective of the witch.

#4 Megamind and Despicable Me

Movies that came out around the same time where the villain is actually just a loving, misunderstood man whose heart is ultimately softened into saving the day.

#4 The Prestige and The Illusionist

Movies that came out around the same time that are about a magician's legacy to overcome significant trials. Both movies take place around the same time period, and both are filmed in dark and mysterious moods.

#5 The Avengers and Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Movies that came out around the same time where aliens from another planet bring a device into a large city that opens a portal in order to bring an army into the city, destroy it, and ultimately enslave the human race.

#6 Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down

Movies that came out around the same time where a white guy teams up with the black president to fight the bad guys as the White House is attacked.

#7 Finding Nemo and Shark Tale

Movies that came out around the same time with star studded casts that opens up the world of an average fish and all the things they encounter in their daily underwater life.

#8 The Truman Show and Ed TV

Movies that came out around the same time where a man's whole life is broadcast on live TV for all to watch.

#9 Avatar, Dances With Wolves, Pocahontas, The Last Samurai, and Ferngully

"Sorry for colonizing" movies. These movies are all about a person who was sent in to a people to befriend them and ultimately colonize them. However, they become one of the people they are sent to, and ultimately turn on their own kind.

Others include: Chasing Liberty and The First Daughter; Babe and Gordy; The Red Planet and Mission to Mars; Little Big League and Rookie of the Year; and Volcano and Dante's Peak.
