9 Actors/Actresses Who Always Play The Sidekick/Best Friend

This is a list of those actors and actresses who never manage to land the main part in a movie, but always play the best friend, sidekick, person who gives advice, confidant, or goofy comedic relief.

#1 Justin Bartha-
From the National Treasure movies to the Hangover movies and Failure To Launch, Justin Bartha is always a side character who is the friend, and provides comedic relief.

#2 Rob Cordry-
Rob Cordry was a news correspondent on the Daily Show, and is also known for his roles in Warm Bodies, The Way Way Back, Blades of Glory, Pain and Gain, and many many others. He is always the friend, and never the main character. He is also hilarious.

#3 Judy Greer
Known for her roles in Arrested Development, Two and a Half men, 13 Going On 30, 27 Dresses, Playing For Keeps, Elizabethtown, The Village, The Wedding Planner, What Women Want, and she was even one of the apes on the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie. She will also be in the upcoming Ant-Man and Jurassic World movies. However, despite all the things she is in, she is NEVER the main girl, and is almost always the friend.

#4 Allen Covert
You will recognize Allen Covert from just about every Adam Sandler movie ever made...and I mean every single one with the exception of Billy Madison. He is always some type of strange side character or dumb friend to either Adam Sandler's character or Adam Sandler's love interest. He, however, is not to be confused with our next man on the list.

#5 Peter Dante-
You will also recognize Peter Dante from every Adam Sandler movie you have ever seen. It seems like Adam might just call both of them up and ask them to play the two dummies in every movie he makes. He isn't in as many as Allen Covert, but if an Adam Sandler movie is coming out...you can pretty much bank on the fact that these two will play some of the parts.

#6 Russell Brand-
You will recognize Russell from Bedtime Stories, Rock of Ages, the Despicable Me movies, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and others. Though he was the main character in the movie Arthur, I think the movie producers learned their lesson. He is the goofy friend, and things should probably stay that way.

#7 Kathryn Hahn-
You may recognize Kathryn from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Parks and Recreation, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, We're The Millers, Step Brothers, The Holiday, A Lot Like Love, Win A Date With Tad Hamilton, and Anchorman. She is always the ditzy or promiscuous friend who ends up offering sage advice when it is most needed.

#8 Thomas Lennon-
You may recognize Thomas from 17 Again, Night At The Museum, Transformers 4, The Dark Knight Rises, Hancock, Hot Tub Time Machine, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, and many others. He is hilarious, and is always an added comedic relief to whatever movie he is in. He did have a starring role in Reno 911, but he is usually the comedic friend.

#9 Morgan Freeman-
This one may surprise you. He doesn't seem to belong with everyone else on the list. But, if you really think about it, he is almost never the main character of the movie. He is always the mentor, friend, confidant, or wise person who offers sage advice to the main character whenever they most need it. In almost every movie you can think of with Morgan Freeman in it, he is just the friend or mentor of the main character, and not the main character himself.
